As demand for our handcrafted products continues to increase, we’re proud to grow our team—welcoming new artisans and investing in the next generation of leaders within our community.
Recently, we celebrated an exciting milestone: two women beginning their journey as sewists at UPAVIM.
Meet Melany: A Story of Growth
One of these women is Melany, a familiar face in our community.
For the past two years, Melany has been a dedicated UPAVIM member—showing up consistently, contributing her time, and investing in her future. During that time, she also earned a scholarship through UPAVIM to study massage therapy, reflecting her commitment to personal and professional growth.
Now, she’s stepping into a new role: learning to sew.
Our Craft Director, Angela, recognized Melany’s intelligence, work ethic, and potential early on. With encouragement and support, Melany is now building a new skill that opens the door to increased income and long-term stability.
Welcoming a New Member: Another Melany Joins the Team
We’re equally excited to welcome another Melany to UPAVIM.
A member of the surrounding community, she has been interested in joining the organization for quite some time. At UPAVIM, membership is earned through dedication—women complete volunteer hours and demonstrate commitment before being invited to join.
As demand for our products has grown, the time was right.
She is now in training, learning the craftsmanship behind UPAVIM’s handmade goods and beginning her journey as part of our artisan team.
What It Means to Become a Sewist at UPAVIM
UPAVIM is a member-run organization, built on shared responsibility, opportunity, and growth.
Once women become members, they gain access to:
- Skill-building opportunities (like sewing)
- Income-generating work
- Benefits such as quarterly health bonuses
Sewing is especially meaningful.
