The New Denim Project® Collection by UPAVIM

The New Denim Project® is a third-generation family-run textile mill situated in the heart of Guatemala. Their commitment to circular manufacturing is at the core of their mission, wherein they ingeniously repurpose discarded denim and clothing scraps, primarily sourced from local garment factories. This process begins with the collection and sorting of these textile remnants, which are transformed back into their essential fiber form. These fibers are then given new life as they're skillfully reimagined into fresh yarns, becoming the foundation for new denim collection.

The entire manufacturing process is carried out without the use of harmful chemicals or synthetic dyes, preserving precious water and energy resources. Synthetic fibers like polyester, nylon, or acrylic are consciously avoided, further reducing the ecological footprint. The remnants of the upcycling procedures, specifically the cottonseed and cotton lint, are thoughtfully repurposed as valuable compost for local coffee-growers, such as Finca San Jeronimo Miramar in Guatemala. This initiative successfully converts waste into a renewable resource, nurturing new life forms in the process.

At Upavim, we take these eco-responsible fabrics and transform them into Fair Trade certified products. What makes this partnership truly special is that every purchase from this collection directly benefits Upavimas, our school and scholarship programs in the outskirts of Guatemala. This means that when you choose our products, you're not only making an eco-friendly choice but also one that contributes to the well-being of local communities and supports ethical production practices. It's a win-win for both the environment and society, perfectly embodied in these extraordinary products.
